Who Plans on Buying a House?
A business that specializes in predicting movements in the United States (Move, Inc.) has said that about 20% of Americans plan to move within the next five years. This comes at a time when half of these same surveyed persons said they believe that they or someone they know will face foreclosure on their home.
This article suggests that homeowners’ attitudes have been changing recently:
“However, it’s important to remember the majority of Americans — four out of five — do not plan to buy a house in the next five years. And amid housing turmoil, homeowners have revealed changing attitudes towards owning a home. About two-thirds of homeowners now consider their home primarily a place to live as opposed to an investment, the survey said.”
In order to stay in their homes, the author cites a statistic of 72% of surveyed adults reporting that they will reduce their spending significantly in order to remain in their abodes. Others (a reported 18.1%), among those planning on purchasing a home in the near future, intend to take serious advantage of the Economic Stimulus Plan.
Let’s pray that as many will avoid foreclosure as would be possible!
